I've always been a music lover. I'm not exactly sure if it happens to be the fact that I literally can not remember a time in my life that I was not doing musicals, or singing in church. It could maybe because music was a coping mechanism growing up, but whatever my origins are I still LOVEEEEEEE music. These songs are all making me excited for what's to come in the new year. And I'm going to be honest 2022 tried it! Like sis is tired. Sis is me. I'm ready for 2023. I'm taking on this new year with a positive attitude and I won't regret that! I'm sure that you'll see most of these songs aren't current. And this list by no means sums up my impeccable and diverse music taste. These are just a few that make me happy. So without further ado, let's get to the list!
“Where words fail music speaks." -Hans Christian Andersen
1. Lovely Day by Bill Withers
Let's just say Bill Withers did his big one with this!! This song literally gives me nostalgic feelings from my childhood that just make me joyous. Like when I say I don't think anyone could be angry after listening to this song. I mean seriously it's going to be a lovely day. I try listening to this song daily just because it makes me so happy. You can never go wrong with Lovely Day. I really can't say much more just listen.
2. Almost There from Princess and the Frog
This could totally be the Disney princess in me but I just love love love this song. Like it's positive, it's catchy, and it's Disney. I literally couldn't ask for much more. So if you've heard this song I'm sure you can assume why it's on here. If not it's basically about how close you are to your dreams. I think it's important to stay close to these things.
3. Just Fine by Mary J. Blige
"This joint right here makes me wanna..WOO!" This is like right before the song actually starts and like GO MARY because she did that! I would hear this song when I was younger and just dance and sing happily. Years later and I do the EXACT same thing. She literally says she wouldn't change her life because it's fine. I feel like at times I think things could be going differently. But really everything is working itself out!
4. Movin' On by Jonathan McReynolds
So I first heard this song on TikTok and I'm like this is super catchy let me listen to the whole thing. Instantly one of my favorites. I just love the idea of forgetting all the things in the past and keeping it pushing. This song is upbeat and uplifting. This is also definitely lyrically such an amazing message and it also motivates me to look in front of me instead of behind!
5. Good Morning Gorgeous by Mary J. Blige ft. H.E.R.
I feel as though if you heard this song then you just know! But if you don't know, here's a few reasons. Literally, everyone deserves to feel confident in their own skin. Like sometimes you just need that reminder to tell yourself that you're beautiful. The most natural and normal version of yourself is amazing.
6. Deja Vu by Tayler Lee
Okay so this song is beautiful but the girl who wrote it>>>!! Like for real this girl is such an inspiration to me. She carries herself with such grace and is so sweet to every person she encounters but like she's equally beautiful and talented. That's like so rare in humans. I'm basically just bragging here stream her music, EVERY song is amazing you won't be disappointed. It's TaylerLee on all platforms!!!! This is my fav song off of her latest project but all the songs are great.
7. Halfway There by Big Time Rush
I am and have always been a BTR girlie!! And their albums are all superb. So like if you read somewhere here I'm a child at heart you know I meant it. Like I love them forever. Anywhooo I actually find this song to be super motivational. Like it gives teenage fever but like all the optimistic vibes. And you might disagree which is totally fine everyone is entitled to their own opinions. But me personally I'm going to blast this when I need to hear something encouraging. It just reminds me that I don't have to have it figured out all the time. Like it's really okay if I don't have it all together but I'm taking strides!
